Live coding is a very multifaceted field, that spans from purely programming activities done in front of a camera to artistic performances. Therefore, it is necessary to establish exact boundaries in which it is possible to conduct the research. In the book, the focus is on the activities brought ahead by a particular community of live coders called TOPLAP, with a stronger attention on the musical practices developed inside it.
